A charming Victorian three-colour 18-carat gold ring, the band worked in raised Gothic-script lettering spelling “Mizpah” a sentimental expression meaning “The Lord watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another.”
Mizpah jewels were exchanged as tokens of love, protection, and remembrance in the late 19th century, and examples in tri-colour gold are particularly appealing.
